SubC Imaging Working with The University of Limerick

Image 4.jpg

The University of Limerick developed a highly functional automated underwater vehicle, Étáin, to investigate shipwrecks of an Ocean Liner, a U-Boat and a Cargo Vessel from WWI that were discovered off the Irish Coast.

Using Étáin and SubC Imaging’s 1Cam Mk6 camera, they were able to gather high-definition footage and build a 3D model of the shipwrecks. During the investigation, they also discovered ships lying off the Atlantic coastline that were being colonised by coral reefs which are normally found in much deeper and colder water.
