Scripting in the Subsea Webinar

In this webinar, from Oi Connect’s Machine Learning & Remote Operations session, SubC Imaging’s Founder and CEO, Chad Collett, will give you a demonstration of SubC’s Rayfin camera scripting feature and explain how subsea scripting on an autonomous underwater programmable camera can help reduce system complexity and cost.

What you’ll learn:

  • What scripting is and its benefits

  • How scripting uses SubC’s open-source camera API so you can write your own script and control external sensors directly

  • Script examples and how to view functions in real time

  • How the aux ports of SubC cameras interact with components such as subsea lasers and lights

  • Additional features of SubC’s cameras such as 4K, HD and digital stills for subsea time-lapse applications

You will see some real-world examples of scripting like the incredible footage captured by SubC equipment running time-lapse scripts, like the beautiful hydrothermal vent that supports a large colony of benthic creatures that was discovered with the help of during the University of Washington’s ocean observatory.

Also, see how the University of Victoria have been using SubC’s Observatory Solution for their underwater study in Barkley Canyon since 2014. Three humpback whale (Megaptera novaeangliae) rib sections, one 20x20x10 block of Douglas Fir (Pseudotsunga meniziesi), and a 30x30x30 block of authigenic carbonate were placed at a depth of 890m inside the Barkley Canyon, a site at Ocean Networks Canada NEPTUNE subsea camera observatory. The purpose of this scientific experiment is to monitor the changes triggered by the implantation of various organic and inorganic substrates as well as monitor how benthic organisms utilize the sparse food resources available in deepsea settings.
