A collaboration among the University of Haifa’s Leon H. Charney School of Marine Sciences, the Israel Oceanographic and Limnological Research, Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, and the Inter-University Institute of Marine Research uncovered a habitat hotspot!

For the longest time in Newfoundland and Labrador, much of our ocean research has been conducted using surface buoys and sea-going vessels.

The Ocean Observatories Initiative, in partnership with the University of Washington, have been using SubC’s ocean observatory system to capture high-resolution digital stills since August 2020.

SubC Imaging has a long history of working with the Department of Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO).

Since 2014, the University of Washington has been using SubC Imaging’s subsea cameras, LEDs and lasers to observe the Axial Seamount, an active underwater volcano located 250 miles off the Oregon coast.

SubC’s owners come from fishing families, and their fathers are active in-shore fishermen. SubC believes in sustainable fisheries and is talking to innovative companies who have a goal to create new technologies that efficiently catch fish, without contacting the seafloor.

The University of Victoria have been using SubC’s Observatory Solution for their underwater study in Barkley Canyon since 2014.
